2016 Telstra Small Business of the Year (Qld) Winner
“Child protection is everyone’s business, make it yours!”
In Safe Hands Educators In Safety Pty Ltd have been named the 2016 Telstra Small Business of the Year (Qld) winner. From a humbling beginning in 2011, the company has now become the largest child protection training organization in Australia.
In Safe Hands Educators In Safety is only a small business but pride themselves on delivering the best child protection training in Australia. Our interactive and practical teaching methodologies mean that professionals working with children are now better equipped to identify signs of abuse and report effectively, and where possible, imbed early intervention and prevention strategies into their frameworks.
“We honestly believe we now have the child protection training system which can reduce the number of child suffering significant harm in our community. We are proud to have trained nearly 100,000 professionals in the past 12 months across Australia and New Zealand and we have already seen our training have an impact on their ability to confidently respond to concerns.” stated Tracie Pecic, Director of the Company.
Founders, Michael and Tracie Pecic, both ex-child abuse detectives in the Queensland Police Service have an insight into a world no child should ever have to experience. The toll they saw child abuse take on child victims and families is something they struggle to put into words. The bravery and resilience the children they dealt with showed was amazing and inspirational but also knowing their harrowing scars they live with now, sends shivers down both their spines still today.
The Company is now gearing to launch their Essential Child Protection training system into the American market in August 2016. This is to coincide with CEO, Michael Pecic’s workshops at the International Society for the Prevention of Child Abuse and Neglect Congress in Calgary, Canada on the 29th of August 2016.
Michael Pecic is a Churchill Fellow and has nearly 25 years’ experience in child protection case management, investigation and education. He served with distinction as a Detective with the Queensland Police Service for 20 years investigating child abuse offences. For 10 years he was a core member of various SCAN teams (Suspected Child and Neglect multi-agency team) case managing the most serious of child protection issues. Michael has also served as the Chief Inspector for the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Queensland for 4 years where he worked closely at an executive level with Government Departments in regard to legislation and community expectations.
