In Safe Hands applauds the Federal Government's announcement of the Royal Commission into institutional responses to child sexual abuse.
The appointment of six very experienced Commissioners will allow for an indepth review of past and present practices within the scope of the Royal Commission.
Whilst intervention and response both at a service and statutory level are vitally important, at In Safe Hands our primary focus is still on teaching prevention and early intervention strategies. These are by far the most effective way of preventing and minimising trauma to children caused not only by sexual abuse - but all kinds of abuse. This training should be available to everyone !
Hopefully this Royal Commission will identify some clear findings about the value of prevention and early intervention strategies, and good quality training - so as to minimise the likelihood of child sexual abuse occuring.
