This course assists early years educators, organisations and individuals to comply with their legislative requirements and meet duty of care obligations regarding Child Protection. It is designed to be used for induction of new staff, and as a foundation or refresher course for those currently working in the early years education and care sector. Upon successful completion, participants will be equipped with basic Child Protection skills sufficient to enable them to appreciate the importance of Child Protection, understand their legal obligations in relation to providing Child Protection, recognise indicators of child abuse, and notify concerns appropriately.
This is the first level of our Essential Child Protection series and should be completed before moving on through the following levels:
Level 2 – Building a Protective Environment for Children
Level 3 – Early Intervention to Child Protection
Level 4 – Domestic & Family Violence and the Impact on Children
We recommend that in order to ensure best practice proactive Child Protection, participants take the next step and enrol in the Essential Child Protection series as soon as practicable after they begin working with children. It changes lives!
